Two Luxury Swimming Pool Additions We Think You’ll Love

December 2, 2018 By Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Dreams are a good thing. And some philosophers think that any dream or desire is actually most satisfying before it actually becomes a reality. So if you’ve already achieved your dream of owning a built-in swimming pool, perhaps you need to start dreaming again. We’re sure you’ll fall in love with your backyard oasis all over again once you start daydreaming about these luxury swimming pool additions. (And spoiler alert: these additions don’t have to break the bank; there’s really no reason you can’t make these dreams a reality.)

Pool Heaters

Depending on the local climate where you live, this might seem like more of a necessity. No matter what position a pool heater is on your swimming pool wish list, it’s bound to increase not only your comfort level but also your realistic usable timeframe for your pool. Not only will you be able to enjoy your pool for more hours each day, but you’ll also get to utilize it for more weeks — or even months — of every year. While gas heaters can be particularly expensive to run, heat pumps are less expensive and more efficient. On the down side though, heat pumps cost more at the outset and take longer to heat your pool. Ask your local pool retailer what’s recommended in your area.

For budget-savvy heating, you can easily add a pool heater after the initial installation of your swimming pool; just make sure you leave enough space in your pool’s equipment area. Depending on your climate and your pool’s location, you may want to consider adding a solar blanket for additional heating.

Automatic Pool Covers

Pool covers offer many benefits: not only do they offer greater safety against accidental drownings, but they also reduce your pool maintenance needs as well as your expenses. From water loss through evaporation to heat and chemical retention, you’ll benefit in many ways by simply keeping your pool covered. Add to that the extra time you’ll be able to spend enjoying your pool instead of cleaning out unwanted debris.

Automatic pool covers look great and can double as winter covers too, allowing you to avoid what’s often a dreaded task of pool owners: dragging out and fastening down your winter cover. If you typically hire out winterizing your pool, you’ll stand to pay less if you have an automatic cover already in place.

For cost-conscious pool owners, automatic pool covers can seem a bit daunting. However, if you plan ahead by having your pool builder prep for an automatic cover, you’ll reduce the total cost of having one installed. With the box and tracks already in place, getting your automatic pool cover installed won’t be nearly as complex or costly.
