Swimming Pool Cover Advantages

September 12, 2018 By Sozo Staff 1 Comment

Many people consider swimming pool covers unnecessary. If that’s your mentality, this article may cause you to think twice. Pool covers offer a whole host of benefits. Whether you’re thinking about adding a swimming pool to your property or you already have one in your yard, here are a few of the important reasons to consider getting a pool cover.

Yard Guard™ swimming pool safety cover

1. Pool Covers Can Help Kids And Pets Stay Safe

Though they will never replace the need for watchful adult supervision, properly attached safety covers can add an extra layer of protection against drowning. Knowing that your pool includes safety features making it difficult for a child or pet to fall into the pool can give you a little extra peace of mind.

2. Pool Covers Can Help Keep Debris Out Of The Pool

On a hot day when you can’t wait for a relaxing dip in the pool, there may be almost nothing as frustrating as noticing your pool is filled with debris. A big gust of wind can blow bugs, dust, and leaves into your pool in a matter of seconds, transforming it from a refreshing oasis into a disgusting mess. You may quickly grow tired of the hassle involved with constantly having to skim your pool day after day. Whether you choose to swim or not, you still have to clean out the debris or you can risk clogging up your pool’s filter.

3. Pool Covers Help Your Pool Stay At A Pleasant Temperature

Though a dip in a cool pool can be refreshing, an uncovered pool can often reach an uncomfortable temperature. When you add a cover to your pool, you’re insulating it so that it will retain heat longer. This cuts down on the need to spend extra money purchasing a heating element. Covered pools that are located in areas with direct sunlight can sometimes get as much as four degrees warmer than they would without the covers.

4. Pool Covers Help Cut Down On Chemical Consumption

If you’re a pool owner, you know the importance of keeping the correct chemical amounts in your pool. You want to make sure your loved ones are swimming in an environment that’s safe, sanitized, and has a balanced pH level. There are significant expenses and time involved in purchasing chemicals and maintaining the right levels in your pool. Did you know that if you own a pool cover, you actually won’t need to purchase chemicals as frequently? That’s because pool chemicals such as chlorine tend to break down quickly from exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays. With a protective cover over your pool, your chemicals won’t need to be replenished as quickly, saving you both time and money.

As you can see, there are plenty of great reasons to consider adding a cover to your swimming pool. There are a variety of different types of pool covers now available. Talk to a knowledgeable pool contractor to find out more about the pros and cons of the different options, so you can decide which one would work best for you.

Wow, I had no idea that you can install a cover for your pool, and this can prevent debris and pollutants from infesting your pool. I should probably share this with my friend, who recently moved into a home that came with a pool. This way, he’d be sure that his son and his dog won’t get caught in the pool by an accident.
