Last night my husband and I watched the movie First Daughter. It was really good! The movie makes you stop and wonder what it is like for children of our presidents or even senators, governors and mayors. How much criticism do they receive from us and how much manpower is required on a day-to-day basis to keep them safe?
In the movie we laugh as four men escort the “first daughter” to her dorm room. We laugh too when they attend a frat party dressed in their suits and ties. It seems funny to us, but I’m sure it really can be annoying to be the one whose every movement is watched and reported on.
I think we each need to feel a sense of security but I’m so glad my lifestyle does not require being flanked by bodyguards. For my simple needs, the PS561Voice Dialer Security Console looks like just the right amount of monitoring. I want my home to be secure, and I want to know what is happening there when I’m gone, but I don’t want to pay a monthly fee for security services.
The Voice Dialer is the size of an answering machine and yet it is able to monitor up to 16 windows, doors and/or rooms. The Console has three ways of providing security. When security is broken the console sounds a siren, flashes lights and dials up to 4 phone numbers to alert the owner of the security breach. When the console calls the four numbers it will play a prerecorded message to the first phone to pick up and then allow the person who answered to listen to the home and decide if they need to call the police.
With research I see that the console can be purchased by itself or as part of the DS7000 Protector Plus Home Security System which really seems like the better deal. This system includes seven pieces of X10.com security products including the MS10A Home Security Wireless Motion Detector and a KR10A Security Key Chain Remote. The Protector Plus Home Security System is sort of a starter kit. Individual additional products can be purchased to better fit each home’s needs.
I think this is the way our family can feel safe and secure both in and away from the home. When I was little I always wanted to be the president of the United States. In fact, I wanted to be the first woman president. As I’ve grown a bit older, however, I’m very glad not to have those responsibilities and to have the privacy of my own home with my own security. I sure would hate to have bodyguards around 24/7!
