Premium Sapele Lumber

August 6, 2012 By Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Ideal for indoor and outdoor millwork, Sapele lumber is an excellent choice for your next project. This beautiful lumber species has a dark reddish brown color that sometimes appears purple, giving it a very unique look. Imported from several African countries, true quality Sapele comes from the Democratic Republic of Congo. This fact drew McIlvain Company, an industry leader for over 200 years, to import from that location. McIlvain Company, a leading wholesale lumber supplier, imports only the finest Sapele lumber as a Genuine Mahogany substitute.

In Stock

J. Gibson McIlvain receives shipments of quality flat sawn (cathedral) and quarter sawn (straight) grain boards. Accompanying these are some high figured Pomelle boards. This stock comes from premium sawmills in Africa, personally visited by a McIlvain Company representative.

Versatile

This weather resistant wood is highly stable and is perfect for flooring, doors, window manufacturing, and even siding. The architectural paneling and millwork produced from Sapele is breathtaking in color and quality, and interior and exterior trim are also popular applications for this versatile lumber.

Hand Chosen and Shipped to You

Ordering from McIlvain Company is the only way to obtain the highest quality lumber on the market. Every shipment of Sapele they receive is dried to European standards of 12%-14% moisture content before being put through McIlvain’s signature two-step drying process. This carefully monitored process takes several months, but it is this patience that produces the country’s finest supply of Sapele.

Upon completion, the lumber is shipped nationwide. Everyday, McIlvain ships custom orders by the truckload to job sites all over America, and Sapele is no exception. Before shipment, each board is hand inspected to ensure that it fits the unique needs of the custom order. It is this care and precision that set McIlvain apart.

McIlvain Company hopes to be the supplier you choose to meet all of your lumber needs. Sapele hardwood lumber and Sapele hardwood plywood are both available in their Maryland and Connecticut yards. Their lumber is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Certified and is just waiting to be a part of your next project.
