Operating Your SecuriLINK Home Security System

At the heart of any X10 SecuriLINK Home Security System is the SC1200 SecuriLINK Console. We’ve taken a look at the basic functionality and added components of an X10 SecuriLINK system in previous posts. Now we’ll look at how to control your SecuriLINK system.

Phone Control

From any touchtone phone in the world, you can call your home number to access your home’s SecuriLINK Home Security System or Home Automation. All you have to do is enter your chosen 4-digit code, and you will have the capability of arming or disarming your security system. For instance, perhaps you have a contractor scheduled to do work, but you don’t want your home disarmed for the entire day; simply call to disarm the system before the person’s ETA. On the other hand, if you mistakenly neglected to set your security system before you left home, you can easily do so.

In addition, you can easily turn on or off lights or any other appliances connected to your X10 system, from anywhere in the world. Perhaps you can’t always be there to welcome the rest of your family home, but with X10, you can still make sure they know the lights will be on for them when they arrive. Perhaps you’ll even have their favorite song playing.

Regular Arming & Disarming Procedures

While having remote control of your security system from anywhere in the world is certainly a bonus, most homeowners will be arming and disarming their SecuriLINK Home Security Systems upon leaving or entering their homes. With other security systems, there’s usually a sense of urgency as a person enters a code and must immediately exit the premises, or risk setting off the alarm. Similar urgency is felt upon entering the home.

With X10 SecuriLINK Home Security, you can leave the days of scrambling to avoid tripping an alarm! (Of course, if you’re an adrenaline junkie, feel free to set your system to require keying in a passcode within seconds of entry or leaving within seconds of arming.) With a Keychain Security Remote such as the KR32A Smart Security Keyfob Remote, you can arm or disarm your system with the touch of a button, on your way in from your driveway or on your way out, after getting comfortable in your vehicle.

Cell Phone Option

Because the SC1200 SecuriLINK Console requires a land line and not everyone has a land line, X10 developed a similar product to coordinate with your current cell phone plan. The SC1200-GSM X10 Cellular SecuriLINK Security Console with GSM allows you full SecuriLINK benefits with any GSM cellular plan from T-Mobile or AT&T. All you need is a cellphone plan and the proper SIM card, and you’ll be able to operate your SC1200-GSM-based X10 SecuriLINK Home Security System.

Either version of the SC1200 includes a built-in LCD screen with an onscreen menu that makes set-up a breeze. When the system is idle, the screen displays a digital clock.
