My boys and their lego creations

October 23, 2008 By Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Lego, Mega Blok and other brands like them must be one of the best toys out there.  My boys get so much use out of them!  Right now they’re at the stage where the big blocks are really the best for them.  They are always using these blocks to make towers, bridges, airplanes hotels, castles and everything else their little minds can dream up.

The boys are playing with their legos right now.  I know we have two big bags of them, a firehouse and accessories and several little bags as well.  Let’s just say we have enough to fill a big plastic storage container, and they still threaten to overflow.  I’ve got to say, these toys have probably been the best toy investment we have ever made.  Other toys get played with for a short time and forgotten but they always come back to their legos.

I’m posting pictures of my boys and their creations this morning.  They really can get very intricate some days and other days they’re very simple.  It really depends who is doing the building and the mood they are in.  I always think of my 4 1/2 year old as the big builder but I think the almost 3 year old is getting really good too!  Yesterday the 3 year old came downstairs carrying an airplane he built for his little stuffed bear and the bear had a place to sit and all.  It was quite well built for a not quite 3 year old.

The only thing I don’t like about legos is the cleanup.  We have so many pieces that it can be a real chore!  Some days the boys do really well at picking them up and then other days it’s a fight to get them picked up or my husband and I end up doing the task.  It sure would be nice to have some kind of home automation device that could do the job for me!  They have all kinds of wireless remotes out there and even a way to make automated appliances, why not an automated vacuum to suck up all the toys?

I’m sure once my boys are old enough for the really small legos we’ll have all sorts of intricate creations lying around.  Oh my, there could be really neat creations, but those little ones will be even worse to clean up!  I don’t really want to think about that!  Those little ones probably do vacuum up but it won’t be with the sort of vacuum I’m wanting.  They’ll be sucked up when I clean the floor and jam up the works.    I think I’d better try to have them stick with the Mega Blok size for as long as possible!  I’m ready to see their creations but not the added mess!
