Forty Years Of Helping Troubled Teens

December 19, 2011 By Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Editor’s Note: New Creations Chapel closed in the summer of 2016.

New Creations Chapel seeks to serve children of all ages in four unique ways. The New Creations Boarding school offers a refuge of learning for troubled teens. A Christian Day School gives local students a Christ-centered learning atmosphere. New Creations also offers a child care program for young children living in the Richmond, Indiana area who are not yet of school age. Lastly, an all-age camp offers programs to learn about the Creator surrounded by His creation. The beating heart of these ministries is New Creations Church.

All of New Creations’ programs take place on 600 acres of property along the eastern Indiana and Ohio state line. Tim and Bonnie Cummings began New Creations Boarding School in the late 1960’s to fulfill a joint calling in helping troubled teenagers. New Creations took root with a traveling choir based out of the Cummings’ home. They would often take in troubled children for brief periods. Forty years later the same Christ-centered spirit thrives in the boarding school, day school, day care and camp programs.

New Creations Christian boarding school grew from an in-home operation without sacrificing several core principles. One such principle, present since the beginning, centers on a dedicated faculty and staff directing students in Christ-centered education and living examples. The dormitory staff offers students 24-hour guidance through a rigid schedule. They approach all of their work with a pastoral, Biblical standpoint in order to facilitate Christian discipline and proper respect for authority. The rigid schedule and Christ-centered guidance effectively helps teens transition from a troubled adolescence into mature adulthood.

Troubled children often open hard to repair family rifts. These strained relationships cause stress on every person involved and must be addressed before reaching full recovery. Facilitating this restoration is another strong tenet of New Creations. Making the decision to send a child to boarding school will never be easy. Parents seeking a Christian education to help their child mature in the Lord turn to New Creations. The protected environment of this trusted institution is well suited to shape students into mature adults. Returning home is an important step to rebuilding a broken family, but not the first. New Creations focuses on repairing those strained relationships so that transition from the school to a home environment is healthy for all involved.

In addition, New Creations develops academically successful students. Emphasizing academic success as a part of maturity creates discipline. Each student works with the boarding school to create a customized class schedule. Creating a schedule that allows students the ability to learn at their own pace keeps them motivated. Teachers, staff and faculty monitor daily class attendance closely. They constantly encourage, evaluate and reward student improvement. With the help of a computer-based system, New Creations offers a wide variety of classes and grade levels.

Concerned parents who contact New Creations Boarding School will find help for their troubled teenager. Their forty-year record of helping troubled teenagers grow into mature adults is a testament to the strength of their program. New Creations wants to work with parents by discussing issues and any questions that arise about the school. Browse their website or contact the school to learn about payment plans, school loan resources or any other questions.
