Automating a home with 3,000 plus square feet

July 15, 2008 By Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Having a large house can have its ups and downs.  There’s more space for people and items but then again there’s more space for clutter and dust.  Oh, and what about all those bathrooms?  We have 2 1/2 which is wonderful for our family of 5 and frequent visitors, but it sure can be a lot of cleaning!

Having automated appliances and lighting in a large home can prove to be very helpful.  When it comes to automated appliances, a large house can be a bit tricky without the proper equipment.  This equipment is not expensive, nor is it difficult to find, you just to know what you need.

The Smarthome BoosterLinc™ Plug-In X10 Signal Booster 4827 is designed to boost the detection of powerline commands for X10 products.  In a large home sometimes signals can be hard to detect at such distances so this booster will help make signals clear.  The goal is to have you equipment working in “real time” (aka. delay free).

Another way to help boost effectiveness of your X10 products is to use the XPCR Coupler Repeater Amplifier – X10 Pro.  If you have less than optimal coupling in your home this will help boost signals.  The Coupler Repeater/Amplifier is recommended for homes of 3,000 square feet or more as well as small homes that have multiple devises installed that may absorb X10 signals and weaken them.  Put weakened signals and a large home together and you really need the helpful tool.  This is perfect for 3-phase (120/208 VAC)systems.

If you have a 2-phase system, the XPCP 120V/277VAC 1:1 Ratio Passive Coupler – X10 Pro is what you need to boost your signals.  Again, this is recommended for homes of 3,000 square feet and/or for homes where the feeding source is over 100 feet away.

X10 Products are great products for automating the lights, appliances and security of your home.  The X10 products work in conjunction with already existing electrical wiring and are wireless to give ease of use from any location.  It is important, however, to make sure you have all the essential items needed to make this product run smoothly with no wait-time or interference to the signal.

The Home Automation Store is a great online location to find all the products needed to make your automated home run smoothly and efficiently.  The prices offered on this website are quite reasonable and make it affordable for any home.
